Finally, late mayor's park in Mendham Twp. gets a plaque

MENDHAM TWP. – Marian Wysong had a park named after her. Now, she has the plaque to go with it.


Wysong, the township’s first female mayor, was honored with the plaque during a dedication ceremony at the 320 Mendham Road park on Sunday, Sept. 28.


Wysong was 75 when she died in 1992 after living in the township for 62 years.


She served on the Township Committee from 1978 to 1988, and was mayor from 1985 to 1988.


In addition, she was a founding member of the the First Aid Squad, an original member of the Ralston Historical Association, where she served as a trustee, and a president of the Morris Area Chapter of the Red Cross.


The dedication ceremony was attended by Mendham Township Mayor Sarah Neibart, Township Committeewoman Lauren Spirig, Assemblywoman Aura Dunn of Mendham, R-Morris, Township Committee members Amalia Duarte and Tracey Moreen, Deputy Mayor Nick Monaghan and state Sen. Anthony Bucco, R-Morris.
