Fighting High Density Development

I hear it from residents across our district every day: enough is enough. Trenton’s overreaching, top-down housing mandates are forcing our towns to build massive, high-density apartment complexes, often without any regard for whether our roads, schools, and infrastructure can handle it. These developments bring hundreds of units, jam our roads, overcrowd our classrooms, and stretch our police, fire, and sanitation services thin. Worst of all, they create new long-term costs and leave taxpayers to pick up the bill.

I voted against Governor Murphy’s aggressive affordable housing mandates which are now pushing our communities past the breaking point. Bipartisan mayors have spoken out against it, and towns like Mendham Township and Wharton are already fighting back in court, and I stand with them. Even the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association has spoken out against these heavy-handed policies that ignore the voices of local leaders and residents.

That is why I have authored and co-sponsored legislation that gives our municipalities the power to push back and protect what makes our communities special.

My focus is on restoring local control, protecting local zoning, preserving the character of our neighborhoods, and making sure development is smart, sustainable, and in line with what residents want—not what Trenton dictates.

You deserve to have your voice heard when it comes to how your town grows. I will never stop fighting to make sure that happens.
