The Corporation for New Jersey Local Media will host "America at 250: Can Local News Unify Our Nation … Again?" on Tuesday, June 9 at the Morris Museum in Morris Township, bringing together a distinguished panel for a nonprofit local news fundraiser to explore how the free press that helped birth our nation can help renew it in our time.

The civic engagement event will feature a moderated panel discussion connecting America's revolutionary past to the challenges and opportunities facing local journalism in 2026 — the 250th anniversary year of the nation's founding.
Panelists include CNN Senior Media Analyst Brian Stelter; state Assemblywoman Aura Dunn, R-Morris, and Andrew Shankman, chair of the History Department at Rutgers University-Camden. The discussion will be facilitated by Joe Territo, CEO and Publisher of the nonprofit Corporation for New Jersey Local Media, which owns and operates this publication.
"The free press didn't just cover the American Revolution, it helped make it possible," said Territo. "Here at the historic crossroads of the American Revolution, at a time when local news organizations across the country face sustainability challenges, we think it's worth discussing the importance of local news in bringing Americans together as a unified nation across deep divisions from 250 years ago to today.”
